For this step, I specifically ask that the Peer Mentor and Peer Mentee use the Canvas Inbox (email) feature. Click HERE for directions to use Canvas's Inbox feature.

For the Peer Mentee: Using the Canvas Inbox feature, please email your Peer Mentor with your answers to the questions below TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE. While you are asked to correspondence via the Canvas Inbox, feel free to continue to converse with your Mentor via text, Slack, in-person, phone or Zoom as you have been.

This is a private conversation and anything shared should remain between the Mentee and Mentor unless there is express permission to do so, by both parties. The only exception is if the Mentor believes the Mentee is in danger of harm by others or self. If this is the case, please contact the Rice Wellbeing and Counseling Center at 713-348-3311 (24/7) or call 9-1-1.

Did you have any exams or projects due? If so, can you share your thoughts on how everything went? (ex: What approach did you take to prepare? What resources did you use and were they helpful? How has this experience differed from prior online or on-campus experiences at other schools?) NOTE: There is no pressure or expectation to discuss grades or performance. Share to the extent that you are comfortable.

Please respond to what your Mentee has shared. Please share any resources or strategies you believe the Mentee may want to consider using over the second half of the semester; however, please be careful not to pressure the Mentee (respect their autonomy). Offer praise and encouragement where appropriate. If you believe the Mentee would benefit from contacting their Student Success Advisor, encourage them to do so, but please do not reach out to the SSA on their behalf.
