VirtuOWL Peer Mentoring is an opportunity for current students to connect with new students via Rice email, Zoom or Slack and discuss the challenges associated with starting a graduate online program. Participation is voluntary but strongly encouraged because of the benefits for mentors and mentees.

Peer Mentoring Objectives Include:

Intentionally connecting new with current students in an effort to increase all participants' satisfaction and success in the program
Providing students an additional avenue for asking questions or expressing concerns
Aiding in the development of relationships and increasing networking opportunities among online engineering students

What's Involved:

Engage in At Least Five Communications (Steps Two through Six) as directed in this course (Week One Introductions, September Check-In, October Check-In, November Check-In and Leading Up to the End of Term) over the period of one semester. Additional communications are strongly encouraged and can take place by any means agreed upon by participants. Start by clicking on STEP ONE.

STEP ONE	Sign the Peer Mentoring Agreement (DO NOW)
STEP TWO	Week One Introductions as a Discussion Post/Video (within the first week of initiating Peer Mentoring)
STEP THREE	September Check In - Mentor Sets Up a Synchronous Meeting with Mentee (No Later than September 29th, 2024)
STEP FOUR	October Check In - Mentee Initiates Communication with Mentor via the Canvas Inbox Feature (Communications due no later than Oct. 27th, 2024)
STEP FIVE	November Check In - Both Peer Partners Engage in a Discussion Post (Discussion no later than Nov. 24th, 2024)
STEP SIX	Leading Up to the End of Term - Both Peer Partners' Final Scheduled Communication (Complete no later than Dec. 15th, 2024)
