Start Classroom System for Zoom

Step 1: Wake Touch Panel / Press anywhere on the panel

The panel goes to sleep after a period of inactivity, so if the screen is completely black, just press it once to wake it up. Once the panel is awake and showing an image, you can press anywhere to startup the system.

Step 2: Select Display Mode

A display mode option will appear where you can select which projector/displays you want to use in the room. The podium monitor will always be in use and does not appear in this selection menu.

Step 3: Select ‘PC’ as a Source

Select the ‘PC Computer’ button on the left side of the touch panel. This will route the PC to all projectors/displays.

Step 4: Wake PC / Login

After routing the PC via the touch panel, you may still see a blank screen on the monitor. It’s possible that the PC is in sleep mode. Please press the mouse or press a key on the keyboard. The PC should wake after that and you’ll be taken to the login screen where you can use your NetID + Password to login to the PC.

*Please note that the ‘podium’ account is no longer available to login to these computers.

Start the Zoom Recording

Step 1: Extend the PC Screen (Optional)

If you plan to teach in Dual Delivery, please reference the Dual Delivery instruction instruction guide.

The sidebar on the right is what you want to see pop out. If that doesn’t occur, please click the “Extend Display” shortcut on the desktop.

Step 2: Start the Zoom Meeting

We now want to start the Zoom meeting through any of the available means. This can be done via the Zoom desktop shortcut, through the Canvas portal, or through any shareable link.

Step 3: Verify Mic/Camera

The system should default to the correct devices for audio, however it is good practice to verify. The Microphone and Speaker should be set to “Echo Cancelling Speakerphone” and the Camera should be set to “Logi Rally Camera”.

The “Same as System” options should work as well, however if there are any audio/camera issues you experience, it is recommended to manually select the options mentioned above.

If the “Logi Rally Camera” option is selected for the camera and the camera video is not working properly, the “HD Webcam” can be used as a backup. This is the physical camera on top of the podium monitor and can be manually rotated. Please note that the Logitech camera remote will not control this camera.

Step 4: Click the “Record” button

Once the Zoom session is running, press the “Record” button located on the bottom toolbar. You will be prompted to choose an upload option. It is recommended to select “Record to the Cloud”. This will process and store the file remotely so that you can access it through the Zoom portal later.

Choosing “Record on this Computer” is a valid option as well, but it is up to you to manage and upload the file afterwards.

Final

At this point, the Zoom session is running and is being actively recorded. You can verify this by looking for the “Recording” notification on the top-left corner of the Zoom window.
