Import Previous Canvas Course to a New Course
Instructions to Import Content
1. Go to the new course on your Canvas dashboard.
2. Click Settings on the bottom of the course Menu.
3. Click Import Course Content from the tool list on the right side column. This option is the fourth link in the list.
4. Select Copy a Canvas Course from the Content Type menu. It is the first option.
5. Search for the course you want to pull content from and select it from the Search for a course menu.
6. Under the Content option, choose all content if you want to copy the entire old course over or choose select specific content to choose certain pieces of the old course to copy.
7. If you would like to set new dates for the course, you can do so in the next section. Be sure to check them in the new course anyway.
8. Click Import. If you chose All Content wait until it says complete, and you are done. If you chose Select Specific Content, the option to Select Content will appear. Click that button and select which content from the old course you want.
Warning: If the course you are copying has "redirect" links in the side panel navigation that link to a Canvas page in that course, the links will not transfer over to the new course. You will need to go into Settings->Apps->View App Configurations. On that page you can go to the redirect link, click the button on the right hand side, choose edit, and add the new link. Take Note: Be sure to check assignments and quizzes for any date changes that need to be made.
Warning: If your previous course used Zoom meetings, be sure NOT to copy the calendar over to the new course or the old meetings will be added to the new calendar.
