Use Zoom in Canvas

Zoom allows for synchronous communication, discussions, lectures, office hours and more through video conferencing.

You can use Zoom to set up course meetings and office hours through your already existing Canvas course. You can also use Zoom desktop or online to set up meetings outside of your courses.

This Zoom Privacy and Security page provides suggested settings for creating private and secure Zoom sessions and steps you can take to reduce the possibility of unwelcome guests joining your meeting or webinar.

How to Use Zoom in Canvas

  1. In Course Navigation, click Zoom.
  2. Click "Schedule a New Meeting".
  3. Select the settings you prefer. (See below for our suggestions).
  4. Click Save.

If you are setting up a course meeting, consider using the reoccurring meeting option to reduce the number of meetings you have to set up by hand.
